Some of you might be thinking "but isn't it August? What do you mean goals for the new year? "

Well, August is the start of my new year. This is my birthday month and it is the start of a whole new year. Everyone has their own unique new year if you think about it.

Why I set goals on my birthday and not on the first of January.

I like to think of my birthday as a brand new year just for me. Goal setting on my personal new year is a great way to get excited for the year to come and to be thankful for the year that was.

Because lets face it, after your twenty-first birthday, getting older really isn’t that fun anymore. Each year gets you closer and closer to the big Three–Oh.

So I found planning things to look forward to and being grateful for what I have achieved takes the sadness out of getting older.

A Year In Review

#AugustBorn #Leo #Millennial #Proud #Goals

It’s nearly that time of year when I officially become one more year older. Much has happened and hasn’t happened since the last time my birthday was here.

This is my chance to reflect on the year that is coming to an end and look forward to the next twelve months.

The past twelve months

I have worked ridiculous hours. * Not grateful but it’s the truth and something I am hoping to fix this coming year.

I have listed my day-job business for sale. No takers yet. But I am hopeful that soon someone will buy it so I can finally pursue my new dreams.

I bought a sewing machine and learnt to sew a straight line. Sewn a few recipe books and planner covers. Yay! #planneraddict

Fell in love with the travellers notebook system. I will probably have a post all about my love for the travellers notebook system soon.

Designed and create a number of planners. Sewn my own planner covers and created my own planner printables.

Saved $8000 with my thousand dollar challenges – You can read all about my eighth thousand dollars savings challenge

Started posting on this blog more than once in a blue moon. I had paid one whole years worth of this blog and had only written three blog posts by the time twelve months had clicked back around. What a waste of twelve months.

Started a side hustle on eBay – Interested in starting a side hustle read my monthly side hustle reports. It was a good learning experience and I hope to learn more about online business and sales.

Did a weekend car trip two days and 19 hours of it in the car. What an exhausting weekend. I am really glad we did it as it gave us a much-needed chance to talk about what we wanted for our immediate future. And we got to visit family and friends we hadn’t seen since new years.

I’m struggling to find much more to write about this past year, which I would like to change for this next year. I would like to stop working ridiculous hours for very little financial reward and certain very little thanks. These are the struggles of being a small business owner in the retail/hospitality industry.

But a new year is about to begin and with it new possibilities. There is hope because I say there is.

Goals For The Year Ahead | Achieving Your Dreams |

style="text-align: center;">Happy New Year To Me My Birthday My Goals For The Year Ahead Amazing Lifestyle/>

Blogging Goals

Write at least 50 blog posts by my next birthday. To have written and scheduled posts one month in advance. To write in advance will allow me to write carelessly, edit carefully, include links to past posts, affiliate links and create pinnable images.

Create 50 useful products for customers. Design and create planner printables and Photoshop templates to help crafters and hobbyist grow their online sales.

Reach 20k monthly page views. This would mean that I am helping more people take their passions and create their dream lifestyles.

Make my first shop sale. I would love to be able to transition into a work at home woman so I can create work hours that suit me and my lifestyle. I would also love to be locationally unbound.

Make my first dollars for affiliate links. I have twelve months to prove to myself that blogging is something I either do for love or will actually be the business I’ve been dreaming of.

Financial Goals

Complete at least four more my thousand dollar challenges. I did eight in the last twelve months, however I am anticipating that there will be changes to our financial incomes over the next twelve months and believe four challenges to be both achievable and goal worthy.

Grow my online income to $1000 a month. Achieving this goal will bring me closer to my goal of working from home. And will certainly help achieve some of those thousand dollar savings challenges I have set for myself.

Relationship Goals

Make a friend. Yep this year I want to make at least one friend outside of work that can hang out when I can hang out. I moved to southeast Queensland four years ago to run my day-job business and I have done nothing but work. It’s time to make some friends and make time to catch up with a few neglected friends in the area.

Date my man. Just because we live together doesn’t mean the dating should stop. This goal is purely a selfish one but I miss dating him. I want to get dressed up and go out for dinner and talk about lovely stress free stuff.

Creative Soul Goals

Take a creative course or two. I would love to get my creativity back. Life is better when you allow creativity and inspiration flow through you. I have neglected my creativity lately to the point where I convinced myself that I was no longer able to be creative. (It was a sad time in my life I can tell you.)

Intellectual

Read five new books. I’m a bookaholic so this isn’t really a goal just an excuse to buy and read more books. But hey, these are my goals and I will do what I want.

Physical

Create an exercise habit. My current job is physically exhausting most days. But a weekend stroll in the park could be beneficial to both the body and the soul.

Learn to relax. The overworked, tired body and soul that I am currently dragging around is so stressed that trying to relax is incredible stressful. If I do manage a minute or two of relaxed state then the panic and guilt step in and say “Hey! Why are you relaxed what have you done to deserve this?” So I would really like to learn how to shut that voice out and relax more.

Well those are my goals for my very own new year. This post will be a helpful reference throughout the next twelve months and a stepping-stone to planning their completion. I feel by breaking each goal down into month size goals and plans I will have a better chance of achieving them.

I would like to write a monthly goals report to track my progress.

Monthly Goals - August 2017

Blogging Goals

Write. Edit. Link. Pin. At least two blog posts this month. I made this one a very small goal. I am still finding my system with blogging.

Create an Excel spreadsheet with blog post ideas, category and progress details. This should I hope making deciding what to write about much easier. I aim to continue to update regularly with new blog posts ideas.

Create and list 5 new products for the shop. Writing this post I started thinking of new products that I would love to create for my new readers. I just have to make time and get it done.

If you are interested in starting a handmade side hustle a good place to start would be opening an Etsy shop. While I encourage people to get their own site, Etsy is a great place to start and test the waters with your products.

When you are ready to really build your handmade business I recommend getting your own site. Buy your domain as early as possible to secure your brand name.

However if you are serious about creating your handmade business you should read my post about starting your blog + Biz with shopify. I highly encourage you to establish your own website and build up your brand as early as possible.

The shopify link above is for a 14 day free trial, you can try it out and if you love it  as much as I do you can choose to buy a paid plan.

Financial Goals

Sell 20 listing on eBay. Once my new piece of equipment arrives I can relist all my listings and start to sell again. I am devastated it broke just as I was to process four customers’ orders.

Track any contributions to my thousand dollars challenge. I have a dedicated insert in my kitadori (my version of a midori/fauxdori) to record money added and a description of where it came from. I have listed my finance inserts in my shop if you want to get your money boss game on.

Creative Soul

Book a creative work-shop course. I’m hoping by attending a creative group course it will introduce me to like minded people and from there, perhaps a friend may come of it.

Relationship Goals

Go on one dinner date, out of the house, dressed up, with my man. Good food and conversation will be had.

Intellectual / Relaxation

Read one book of my choosing. I have two books in my possession that I have not finished reading and I recently purchase two new books and am eagerly awaiting their arrival.
